fitness entreprenuers fitness professionals fitness trends market data trainers Jan 01, 2024

A New Frontier In Fitness Entrepreneurship is on the rise with at least 29% of Fit Pros want to be their own boss.  There are around 88% of fitness coaches and trainers who still are employees but more groups are making it possible to break out on their own.

DID YOU KNOW
โ—พ There are 31M entreprenuers in the U.S.
โ—พ 16% of the Adult workforce are self-employed
โ—พ This year 5.1 million new companies will be started
โ—พ 55% of adults have started their own business

People want to be their own boss... the same holds true for Fit Pros... But according to  Steve Pirt of Flexworks around 88% of fitness coaches and trainers are employees still.

๐Ÿ“ˆ The interesting part is the "Health Beauty and Fitness" industry is the #4 industry to see new small business at 9% of companies! Which indicates we could see 459,000 new beauty/fitness companies this year ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

THE OPPORTUNITY
๐Ÿ“… Pre-pandemic we heard noise about the Fitness Hall model which seemed closer to the "hair stylist chair rental" model as it had no services

โžกNow, places like Flexwork are providing a "shared resource" model WITH SERVICE for Fit Pros to start their own companies at their facility, giving them their own private space, access to tools, people & much more...

๐Ÿ“ŒAs a former Fit Pro I understand how trainers and coaches hit ceilings and this is a natural progression. I also got to first hand work with hundreds of fitness professionals when I built up a fitness creator agency and media co. What I found was training them to perform on camera and helping them just a little gave them tons of confidence and that little boost to create a mindset of "wanting to be their own boss".

๐Ÿ”Ž๐Ÿ’ฅTREND INSIGHT
As I follow Trends and try to provide New Insights! This is another one that I've been involved in and continue to follow as it has some upside ๐Ÿ“ˆ

According to the IBIS World there are 831,531 Personal Trainers in the U.S. (might be high vs other data). But if my math is right, 17% of the PT market is unmet = 141,360 Fit Pros wanting to be their own boss and at an avg wage this is a $6.17 BILLION Market Op, not including 2nd mkts. ๐Ÿ’ต ๐Ÿ’ต
